On Friday 21st March members of the local community, including some of Newry’s leading business owners attended the event ‘Feast Night Friday’ organised by Davina’s Ark, a new charitable organisation which aims to tackle addiction in our community by providing a non-residential aftercare service for individuals and families affected by addiction.
A relaxing evening full of laughs was enjoyed by all which involved pop quizzes, spot prizes, and a top class 5 course taster menu hosted by Newry’s newest establishment al forno Mediterranean Restaurant on Francis Street.
Sr. Kathleen O’Connor who has been working with addiction for many years shared anecdotes relating to her own personal experiences and we also heard from a recovering alcoholic who spoke about his journey to recovery.
The team at Davina’s Ark wish to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who turned out to show their support and also to the local businesses, CTS Projects Limited, Tan City Newry, Shanroe Photography, Central Florists, Millbrook Café Bessbrook and Hearts & Homes, who kindly donated prizes and/or made financial contributions. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the management and staff of Al Forno Restaurant for the excellent meal and service.
Davina’s Ark have organised a Coffee Morning on Saturday 5th April from 12 – 2pm at their premises, 22 Kilmorey Street, Newry with a Paediatric First Aid demonstration performed by a paediatric nurse in the children’s ward at Daisy Hill Hospital and extend an invite to everyone in the community.
