Southern Regional College Students Hosts a Successful “Dining in the Dark” Event
BTEC Level 3 and Foundation Degree Hospitality students held a successful “Dining in the Dark” Event in The Graduate Restaurant, Southern Regional College on 10th November. Visitors with sight impairments were welcomed to the restaurant, along with sighted guests who were provided with eye masks to enable them to experience dining without any vision. The students took part in training provided by RNIB, which assisted them in preparing for the evening and in guiding guests to their seats.
The five course menu was prepared by Level 3 Professional cookery students which, along with the service, was highly praised in customer feedback.
“I have dined in some fine restaurants but never have I had such a variety of beautiful food and the service from these young people is out of this world, their friendliness and banter is exceptional.”
“I have to say I was pretty apprehensive before going but I’m so glad I did. Not only was the food and service from the students amazing but the overall experience was one which I won’t forget in a hurry.”
